I, Grace Lautman, attest to the fact that I am an approved supervisor as defined by WAC 246-809-234. As an approved supervisor, I attest that I have completed the following:
15 clock hours of training in clinical supervision:
Supervision of supervision (being supervised while providing supervision to another clinician)
Continuing education credits on supervision
And 25 hours of experience in supervision of clinical practice
I earned a Master of Science degree in Nutrition & Clinical Health Psychology from Bastyr University and am a certified nutritionist (CN) and licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in the state of WA. My license number is #60928394.
The CN is a state qualification and is covered by most insurance plans in the state of Washington. CNs must have a master’s degree in nutrition in order to become certified and practice as a nutritionist. In addition to being a credentialed Certified Nutritionist, I also have my bachelor’s degree in dietetics/nutrition from the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as 8+ years of experience working with and being taught by several incredible master’s level nutritionists—registered dietitians (RDN’s) as well as certified nutritionists (CN’s).
The LMHC license requires a masters degree in clinical psychology, passing a national counseling exam, as well as 3,000 clinical hours post-graduation, including supervision with an experienced licensed therapist who helps guide and teach. I have completed all these requirements. During my time in supervision I focused on mastering my specialties working with eating disorders, body image, trauma therapy, and family systems. I have also completed required coursework in clinical supervision.
My theoretical orientation for counseling and supervision draws on a number of approaches including internal family systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Lifespan Integration (LI), and Radically Open Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (RO-DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Ego States Therapy.
When we put our heads together, we can provide better care. I’ve been on the receiving end of hours of consultations, trainings, and support from mentors and I’m passionate about providing that space to other clinicians. I also love educating in many other capacities, and have particularly felt at home speaking in schools.
I have experience mentoring and providing case consultations for dietitians/nutritionists and therapists in Seattle WA. I also have experience consulting for middle and high schools looking for guidance on curriculum, as well as presentations for events such as parent teacher nights.
